- ITE 100 - Introduction to Information Systems
- Covers the fundamentals of computers and computing and topics which include impact of computers on society, ethical issues, and terminology. Provides discussion about available hardware and software as well as their application.Lecture 3-4 hours per week.
3-4 credits - ITE 101 - Introduction to Microcomputers
- Examines concepts and terminology related to microcomputers and introduces specific uses of microcomputers.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - ITE 115 - Introduction to Computer Applications and Concepts
- Covers computer concepts and internet skills, and uses a software suite which includes word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software to demonstrate skills. Recommended prerequisite keyboarding skills. This course applies to career/technical education (CTE) programs. ITE 152 serves both transfer and CTE programs.Lecture 3-4 hours per week.
3-4 credits - ITE 119 - Information Literacy
- Presents the information literacy core competencies focusing on the use of information technology skills. Skills and knowledge will be developed in database searching, computer applications, information security and privacy, and intellectual property issues. This course applies to career/technical education (CTE) programs. ITE 152 serves both transfer and CTE programs.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ITE 120 - Principles of Information Systems
- Provides an overview of the fundamentals of computer information systems. Focuses on the role of computers in business today including hardware, software, analysis, design and implementation of information systems. Includes an introduction to computer ethics, and business and personal security. Exposes students to techniques used in programming and system development. Utilizes a hands-on component for spreadsheets, databases, and web design applications.Lecture 3-4 hours per week.
3-4 credits - ITE 130 - Introduction to Internet Services
- Provides students with a working knowledge of Internet terminology and services including e-mail, WWW browsing, search engines, ftp, file compression, and other services using a variety of software packages. Provides instruction for basic web page construction.Lecture 3-4 hours per week.
3-4 credits - ITE 140 - Spreadsheeting for Business
- Provides a working knowledge of a commercial spreadsheet package to include design and development of a variety of worksheets, preparing graphs, working with database queries, macro writing, menu techniques, and decision analysis tools.Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ITE 150 - Desktop Database Software
- Incorporates instruction in planning, defining, and using a database; performing queries; producing reports; working with multiple files; and concepts of database programming. Includes database concepts, principles of table design and table relationships, entering data, creating and using forms, using data from different sources, filtering, creating mailing labels.Lecture 3-4 hours per week.
3-4 credits - ITE 152 - Introduction to Digital and Information Literacy and Computer Applications
- Develops understanding of digital and information literacy. Introduces basic computer concepts in hardware, software, cyber, cloud, database, and operating systems. Includes hands-on experience developing word processing, spreadsheet and presentation documents. Evaluates the reliability of sources. Covers creating a simple web page. Examines topics such as social, legal, and ethical issues. This is a UCGS transfer course.Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ITE 193 - Studies In
- Covers new content not covered in existing courses in the discipline. Allows instructor to explore content and instructional methods to assess the course's viability as a permanent offering.Variable hours per week.
1-5 credits - ITE 195 - Topics In
- Provides an opportunity to explore topical areas of interest to or needed by students.May be used also for special honors courses. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
1-5 credits - ITE 200 - Technology for Teachers (TSIP)
- Provides K-12 classroom teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to fulfill the Commonwealth of Virginia's Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel. Students will finish the course with a solid understanding of educational technology, including how to use computers, now to access information on the World Wide Web, and how to integrate computers and educational technology into classroom curriculum. Students will learn how to base technology integration decisions on contemporary learning theories.Lecture 3-4 hours per week.
3-4 credits - ITE 215 - Advanced Computer Applications and Integration
- Incorporates advanced computer concepts including the integration of a software suite.Lecture 3-4 hours per week.
3-4 credits - ITE 221 - PC Hardware and OS Architecture
- Covers instruction about processors, internal functions, peripheral devices, computer organization, memory management, architecture, instruction format, and basic OS architecture.Lecture 3-4 hours per week.
3-4 credits - ITE 290 - Coordinated Internship
- Supervises on-the-job training in selected business, industrial or service firms coordinated by the college.Credit/practice ratio not to exceed 1:5 hours. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
1-5 credits - ITE 295 - Topics In
- Provides an opportunity to explore topical areas of interest to or needed by students.May be used also for special honors courses. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
