- SOC 200 - Introduction to Sociology
- Introduces the fundamental concepts and principles of sociology with attention to sociological theory, research methods, and the impact of social inequality. Examines a variety of topics such as culture, race, social class, gender, major social institutions and their role in contemporary society, and the processes of social change. This is a Passport and UCGS transfer course.Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SOC 210 - Survey of Physical and Cultural Anthropology
- Examines physical characteristics and lifestyles of human ancestors and present populations. Explores cultures from around the world to study diverse adaptations made by humans.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SOC 211 - Cultural Anthropology
- Examines the origins, development, research, diversification and evolution of human cultures. Includes exposure to the variability of both Western and Non-Western aspects of culture. Provides an introduction to the nature of culture and its relationship to various social institutions and societies. This is a Passport and UCGS transfer course.Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SOC 212 - Principles of Anthropology II
- Inquires into the origins, development, and diversification of human biology and human cultures. Includes fossil records, physical origins of human development, human population genetics, linguistics, cultures' origins and variation, and historical and contemporary analysis of human societies. Part II of II.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SOC 215 - Sociology of the Family
- Introduces tools to study family life through the sociological lens. Explores a variety of topics including various familial forms, divorce, and domestic violence.Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SOC 218 - Family Violence
- Examines occasions and reasons family relationships do not work. Includes types of family violence, and its prevention.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SOC 225 - Sociology of Gender
- Analyzes influence of major social institutions and socialization in shaping and changing sex roles in contemporary society. Examines differential access to positions of public power and authority for men and women.Lecture 3 hours, Total 3 hours per week
Prerequisite: Ability to read in English at the college level.3 credits - SOC 226 - Human Sexuality
- Studies sociological research and theory on sexuality. Includes anatomy and physiology, birth control, sexually transmitted diseases and sexual behavior. Also approved for offering as HLT 136.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SOC 235 - Juvenile Delinquency
- Studies demographic trends, casual theories, and control of juvenile delinquency. Presents juveniles' interaction with family, schools, police, courts, treatment programs, and facilities. Also approved for ADJ Juvenile curriculum.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SOC 236 - Criminology
- Studies research and causal theories of criminal behavior. Examines crime statistics, crime victims, and types of criminal offenses. Introduces role of police, judicial and correctional system in treatment and punishment of offenders. Is also approved for ADJ Criminology.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SOC 246 - Death and Society
- Analyzes death and its relationship to social behavior and societal institutions. Focuses attention on types of death, bereavement, funerals, estate planning/inheritance, and the student's own responses to these issues.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SOC 247 - Death and Dying
- Studies theoretical, practical, and historical aspects of death. Focuses upon student's own ideas, feeling, and attitudes toward death and dying and the significance and consequences of those attitudes.Lecture 3 hours per week.

- Introduces the fundamental concepts underlying social problems construction with attention to how these problems are defined, understood and arbitrated. Examines a variety of topics such as researching social problems and policymaking. This is a Passport and UCGS transfer course.Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SOC 295 - Topics In
- Provides an opportunity to explore topical areas of interest to or needed by students.May be used also for special honors courses. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
