- Outlines history and impact of architecture. Emphasizes dynamics and social aspects of architecture and society; focuses on 19th and 20th century architectural forms.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 105 - Orientation and History of Architecture
- Outlines the history of architecture and its impact on the dynamics of architecture and society.Lecture 1 hour per week.
1 credits - ARC 115 - Architectural Graphics
- Covers various types of presentation techniques associated with architecture, including rendered plans and elevations, pictorial drawings and perspectives, and the use of drawing media.Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
2 credits - ARC 121 - Architectural Drafting I
- Introduces techniques of architectural drafting, including lettering, dimensioning, and symbols. Requires production of plans, sections, and elevations of a simple building. Studies use of common reference material and the organization of architectural working drawings. Requires development of a limited set of working drawings, including a site plan, related details, and pictorial drawings. Part I of II. Credit will not awarded for both ARC 121 and ARC 123.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 122 - Architectural Drafting II
- Introduces techniques of architectural drafting, including lettering, dimensioning, and symbols. Requires production of plans, sections, and elevations of a simple building. Studies use of common reference material and the organization of architectural working drawings. Requires development of a limited set of working drawings, including a site plan, related details, and pictorial drawings. Part II of II. 3 credits - ARC 123 - Architectural Graphics I
- Introduces techniques of architectural communication including orthographic projection and sketching as well as 3d views and modeling. Requires the manual production of plans, sections, elevations and 3d views and models of a simple building. Includes dimensioning, detailing and rendering. Part I of II. Credit will not be awarded for both ARC 121 and ARC 123.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 124 - Architectural Graphics II
- Continues with the techniques of architectural communication including orthographic projection and sketching as well as 3d views and modeling. Requires the production of plans, sections, elevations and 3d views and models of a simple building using computer technology. Includes dimensioning and detailing. Part II of II. Credit will not be awarded for both ARC 122 and ARC 124.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 130 - Introduction to Materials & Methods of Construction
- Introduces the physical properties and characteristics of building materials and methods of construction. Includes review of residential and light commercial wood-frame construction techniques and an introduction to steel and concrete structural systems.Lecture 3-4 hours per week.
3-4 credits - ARC 131 - Materials and Methods of Construction I
- Covers use of wood as a building material in all phases of construction. Deals with species used, growth characteristics, hygroscopic properties, and applications of lumber and plywood. Includes wood framing systems, premanufactured components, modular systems, windows, doors, cabinets and flooring.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 132 - Materials and Methods of Construction II
- Studies masonry and concrete materials related to the construction industry: materials, mixtures, handling and placing, finishing and curing and protection of concrete work. Includes brick and cementitious materials, mortar, and workmanship, and iron, steel, and aluminum as used in construction.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 133 - Construction Methodology & Procedures I
- Studies materials used in construction of buildings, covering foundations to structural framing systems. Includes appropriate use of materials for various construction types. Includes specification of materials and installation procedures; types of specifications and writing procedures; bidding procedures and, contract documents. Part I of II.Lecture 3 hours per week.

- Analyzes the various forces acting on a building and surveys the structural elements used to resist them. Uses case studies of ordinary and unusual structures to illustrate concepts of structural design. Provides a conceptual overview of structural systems for students interested in the design and construction of buildings. Requires some elementary algebra. Includes exercises in reading structural drawings and tables.Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week.

2-3 credits - ARC 212 - Architectural Drafting III
- Provides fundamental knowledge of the principles and techniques of architectural drawings, procedures. Familiarizes students with design process to provide a better understanding of the relationship between architectural design and structural systems.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

- Introduces the basics of landscape design and development concepts through architectural construction and plantings. Shows relationship between design and environment, including objectives of design elements and materials, facilities.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 221 - Architectural CAD Applications Software I
- Teaches the principles and techniques of architectural drawing practices through the use of architecture specific CAD software. Utilizes the commands and features of the software to generate drawings that emphasize architectural design and structural systems. Use local prerequisites.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 222 - Architectural CAD Applications Software II
- Uses advanced features of architectural CAD software to teach students to develop working drawings and details that adhere to the practices and techniques of architectural drawing principles. Use local prerequisites.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 225 - Site Planning and Technology
- Studies the impact of building codes and zoning ordinances on site design; storm drainage, grading design, erosion and flood control; site materials for paving and retaining walls; site utilities.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 231 - Advanced Architectural Design and Graphics I
- Provides fundamental knowledge of the principles and techniques of architectural drawing procedures. Familiarizes student with design process. Provides a better understanding of the relation between architectural design and structural systems.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 6 hours. Total 8 hours per week.

- Requires development of complete set of working drawings and details according to principles and techniques of architectural drawings and procedures used in professional firms.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 6 hours. Total 8 hours per week.

- Introduces students to ethics, ideas, technologies, methods and current practices in designing sustainable environments.Credits - 3 Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 241 - Building Mechanical Systems
- Studies components and design for systems in residential and commercial building. Covers plumbing supply and drainage, including storm drainage and private sewage disposal. Requires calculation of overall heat balances for buildings as basis for design of heating and cooling systems.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 242 - Building Electrical Systems
- Studies components and design for lighting and electrical systems, security, fire, and smoke alarms.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 243 - Environmental Systems
- Studies energy sources and strategies for use in buildings; heat loss and heat gain; heating and cooling equipment and system; water supply, distribution and waste systems and equipment; principles of electricity, electrical systems and equipment.Lecture 4 hours per week.
4 credits - ARC 246 - Materials and Methods of Construction
- Introduces the characteristics of building materials and the methods of construction in which these materials are used in the erection of structures. Introduces the physical properties of steel, concrete, timber, glass, and related materials as well as methods used in testing materials. All sixteen CSI divisions are discussed.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - ARC 251 - Architectural Drawing I
- Studies building details, one-point and two-point perspective line drawings. Studies working drawings for small buildings, floor and foundation plans, elevations and details. Part I of II.Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 6 hours. Total 7 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 258 - Building Codes, Contract Documents & Prof. Office Pract
- Covers professional role of the architectural technician with regard to the construction industry. Includes building codes and their effect on specifications and drawings. Teaches purpose and writing of specifications with their legal and practical application to working drawings. Analyzes contract documents for client-architect-contractor responsibilities and duties.Lecture 3 hours per week.
