- Emphasizes photographic syntax, how it has evolved and how it relates to reading images. Examines psychological, perceptual and contextual issues relating to photographic images. Open to students of all disciplines.Lecture 3 hours per week.

- Teaches fundamentals of outdoor and nature photography.Credits - 3. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - PHT 110 - History of Photography
- Surveys important photographers, processes, and historical influences of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - PHT 120 - Screenwriting
- Focuses on the craft of writing for the screen. Examines film and television screenplay structure. Analyzes dramatic strategies in film and television. Learn and apply correct script form and creatively engage in the various stages of original scriptwriting.This course is cross-listed with CST 120. - Concentrates on skills necessary to light, edit, and record on video tape. Covers situations such as weddings, meetings, and small corporate productions.Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 4 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

- Introduces the basics of recording and editing video and sound for a variety of intents. Explores time-based media as an art form and means of communication. Part I of II.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

- Continues the basics of recording and editing video and sound for a variety of intents. Explores time-based media as an art form and means of communication. Part II of II.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - PHT 135 - Electronic Darkroom
- Teaches students to create and manipulate digital photographs. Covers masking, color corrections, and merging of illustrations with photographs. Examines the ethical and property-rights issues which are raised in the manipulation of images.Lecture 2 hour. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
3 credits - PHT 150 - Film Production I
- Introduces students to the basic techniques and procedures involved in motion picture production. Emphasizes aspects of filmmaking from scripting and preproduction through editing and postproduction. Includes the exploration of professional film crew roles in grip, lighting, production management, directing, sound and editing. Part I of II. This course is cross-listed with ART 160. - Reinforces techniques covered in Film Production I emphasizing technical and theoretical aspects of the filmmaking process. Requires student collaboration on film assignments from scripting and preproduction through editing and postproduction, and roles in grip, lighting, production management, directing, sound, and editing. Film Production I3 credits - PHT 164 - Introduction to Digital Photography
- Teaches the fundamentals of photography including camera function, composition, and image production as they apply to digital imagery.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
3 credits - PHT 171 - Imaging and Concepts in Photographic Media Arts
- Covers best practices in imaging workflows, concept building, ideation, and steps in the creative process. Introduces students to working with multiple images in a series and as sequence. Provides students the opportunity to create and manipulate digital images and examine property-rights issues. Exposes students to a variety of software used for image organization, archiving, image editing, compositing, layer masking, the application of special effects, and outsourcing.Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 4 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

- Examines advanced lighting and camera techniques under controlled studio conditions. - Introduces students of photography and video to a variety professional opportunities in the field. This is an advanced course for students who would like to know more about their options in staff and freelance work.Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week.

- Prepares students of photography and video to start and operate a professional practice. This is an advanced course for students who wish to be self-employed as photographers and/or videographers.Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week.

- Introduces equipment, techniques, skills, and concepts of photojournalism. Teaches photography for features, spot news, and photo essays. Emphasizes editing, captioning, and layout May require individual projects. Part I of II.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

- Explores manipulated imagery including traditional and non- traditional processes such as non-silver and electronic imaging. Uses enlarged film negatives in order to investigate a variety of methods.Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 4 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

- Explores physical limits of photographic capture including exposure in low light and use of extended time values. Considers the role of these factors in the history, theory, and practice of the medium, as an art form and means of communication.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hour. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - PHT 264 - Digital Photography II
- Teaches theory and practice of digital photography. Emphasizes use of digital cameras in studio and on location. Teaches advanced techniques of image editing. Provides training in digital image transmission from remote locations.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
