- Introduces the basic principles of good nutrition. Studies nutrients, their sources and functions, basic requirements for individuals. Includes a brief introduction to diet therapy.Lecture 1 hour per week.

- Teaches knowledge, understanding, and nursing skills related to the needs of women and other family members during all phases of childbearing. Presents abnormal conditions of pregnancy.Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 3-6 hours. Total 5-8 hours per week.
3-4 credits - PNE 132 - Care of Maternal and Newborn Clients
- Studies normal pregnancy, childbirth, post-partum, and the neonate along with complications associated with each phase using a family-centered approach.Lecture 2 hours. Total 2 hours per week.

- Examines pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and newborn care from a family centered approach. Covers complications related to childbearing. Emphasizes growth and development and exploration of common childhood disorders at various stages.Lecture 4 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 7 hours per week.

- Uses a family-centered approach; studies normal and common complications in pregnancy, childbirth, post-partum, the neonate, and children through adolescence. - Introduces students to practical nursing history, legal and ethical aspects, and current trends. Teaches nursing knowledge and skills with emphasis on meeting basic patient needs. - Studies etiology, symptoms, prescribed treatment, and experiences in the nursing care of patients with selected disorders. 1-2 credits - PNE 175 - Introduction to Supervision and Management for Prac Nur
- Presents principles of leadership and management theory to assist the practical nurse graduate in assuming leadership roles within their scope of practice. Provides an interactive format to enhance the learning concepts such as group dynamics, effective communication, organization, prioritization, and delegation. Emphasizes skills necessary for first-line management.Lecture 1 hour per week.

- Provides guided nursing experiences in the hospital setting. Practices skills and applies principles of nursing in basic areas. Includes supervision in administration of medicines.
