- Presents brief history of radiological profession, code of ethics, conduct for radiologic students, and the basic fundamentals of radiation protection.Lecture 2 hours per week.
2 credits - RAD 105 - Introduction to Radiology, Protection and Patient Care
- Presents brief history of radiologic profession, code of ethics, conduct for radiologic students, and basic fundamentals of radiation projection. Teaches the care and handling of the sick and injured patient in the Radiology Department. Introduces the use of contrast media necessary in the investigation of the internal organs.Lecture 2-3 hours per week.
2-3 credits - RAD 110 - Imaging Equipment and Protection
- Discusses the basic components of a radiographic unit, principles of x-ray production, principles of image receptors, automatic processing, film evaluation and concepts in radiation protection and radiobiology.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - RAD 111 - Radiologic Science I
- Teaches concepts of radiation, radiography physics, fundamentals of electromagnetic radiation, electricity and magnetism, and application of these principles to radiography. Focuses on X-ray production, emission, and X- ray interaction with matter. Part I of II.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - RAD 112 - Radiologic Science II
- Teaches concepts of radiation, radiography physics, fundamentals of electromagnetic radiation, electricity and magnetism, and application of these principles to radiography. Focuses on X-ray production, emission, and X- ray interaction with matter. Part II of II.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - RAD 115 - Principles of Magnetic Resonance Imaging
- Presents concepts of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Physics. Teaches fundamentals of Magnetic Resonance and application of principles.Lecture 2-3 hours per week.
Prerequisite: ARRT or eligible.2-3 credits - RAD 120 - Medical Care Procedures & Safety in Radiology
- Teaches the fundamentals of radiation safety, body mechanics and medical legal considerations in Radiology. Presents techniques of infection control, patient care safety, and response to emergency situations. Introduces pharmacology, contrast media, and treatment of adverse reactions. Students acquire skills in vital sign assessment, sterile technique, venipuncture, and other medical care procedures.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

- Introduces procedures for positioning the patient's anatomical structures relative to X-ray beam and image receptor. Emphasizes procedures for routine examination of the chest, abdomen, extremities, and axial skeleton.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - RAD 125 - Patient Care Procedures
- Presents the care and handling of the sick and injured patient in the Radiology Department. Introduces the fundamentals of nursing procedures, equipment and supplies specific to radiology.Lecture 2-3 hours per week.
2-3 credits - RAD 131 - Elementary Clinical Procedures I
- Develops advanced technical skills in fundamental radiographic procedures. Focuses on manipulation of equipment, patient care, osseous studies, skull procedures, and contrast studies. Provides clinical experience in cooperating health agencies. Part I of II.Clinical 15 hours per week.
3 credits - RAD 132 - Elementary Clinical Procedures II
- Develops advanced technical skills in fundamental radiographic procedures. Focuses on manipulation of equipment, patient care, osseous studies, skull procedures, and contrast studies. Provides clinical experience in cooperating health agencies. Part II of II.Clinical 15 hours per week.
3 credits - RAD 135 - Elementary Clinical Procedures
- Introduces advanced technical skills in fundamental radiographic procedures. Focuses on basic contrast media studies, osseous studies, and skull procedures. Provides clinical experiences in health care agencies.Clinical 25 hours per week.
5 credits - RAD 141 - Principles of Radiographic Quality I
- Presents factors that control and influence radiographic quality, as well as, various technical conversion factors useful in radiography. Discusses automatic film processing, sensitometry, and quality assurance testing. Part I of II.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.

- Studies methods and devices used for protection from ionizing radiation. Teaches theories of biological effects, cell and organism sensitivity, and the somatic and genetic effects of ionizing radiation. Presents current radiation protection philosophy for protecting the patient and technologist.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - RAD 206 - Human Disease and Radiography
- Introduces the various diseases and anomalies that may be manifested on the radiograph. Presents diseases related to the various body systems. Places emphasis on the relationship of the disease process and radiographic density.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - RAD 215 - Correlated Radiographic Theory
- Presents intensive correlation of all major radiologic technology subject areas. Studies interrelationships of biology, physics, principles of exposure, radiologic procedures, patient care, and radiation protection.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - RAD 221 - Radiographic Procedures II
- Continues procedures for positioning the patient's anatomical structures relative to X-ray beam and image receptor. 4 credits - RAD 228 - Enhanced Patient Care for Computed Tomography Imaging
- Applies critical thinking skills including but not limited to patient assessment and care, contrast administration, and radiation safety, as related to those patients receiving Computed Tomography (CT) diagnostic/interventional imaging services.Credits 3 hours. Lecture 3 hours per week.
Prerequisites: The student must be American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certified in a primary category: Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, or ARRT eligible.3 credits - RAD 231 - Advanced Clinical Procedures I
- Reinforces technical skills in fundamental radiographic procedures. Introduces more intricate contrast media procedures. Focuses on technical proficiency, application of radiation, protection, nursing skills, and exposure principles. Teaches advanced technical procedures and principles of imaging modalities, correlating previous radiographic theory, focusing on full responsibility for patients in technical areas, perfecting technical skills, and developing awareness of related areas utilizing ionizing radiation. Provides clinical experience in cooperating health agencies. Part I of II.Clinical 20-25 hours per week.

5 credits - RAD 233 - Anatomy and Positioning of the Breast
- Presents the risk factors for breast disease, anatomy and physiology of the breast and discusses the various pathologies identified through mammography. Includes routine and special projections of the breast.Lecture 1 hour per week.

- Discusses the dedicated radiography equipment necessary for breast imaging. Includes proper technical factors, radiation protection techniques, and proper accessory equipment.Lecture 1 hour per week.
Prerequisite: ARRT or eligible.1 credits - RAD 235 - Quality Assurance in Mammography
- Discusses the components of quality assurance in mammography and the accreditation programs developed to ensure quality in breast imaging facilities.Lecture 1 hour per week.

- Presents a survey of common medical and surgical disorders that affect radiographic image. Discusses conditions related to different systems of the human body. Studies the correlation of these conditions with radiographs.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - RAD 242 - Computed Tomography Procedures and Instrumentation
- Focuses on the patient care, imaging procedure and physics and instrumentation related to computed tomography imaging.Lecture 2 hours per week.

- Presents case studies in computed tomography. Focuses on both abnormal and normal studies.Lecture 1 hour per week.

- Introduces the study of treatment of disease as it relates to various imaging modalities, computerized tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. Introduces computers and other innovations in radiology. Emphasizes theory, principle of operation, and clinical application of these topics.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - RAD 246 - Special Procedures
- Studies special radiographic and surgical procedures and equipment employed in the more complicated investigation of internal conditions of the human body.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - RAD 247 - Cross-Sectional Anatomy
- Presents a specialized study of cross-sectional anatomy relevant to sectional imaging modalities such as computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.Lecture 2-3 hours per week.
Prerequisite: ARRT or eligible.2-3 credits - RAD 248 - Case Studies in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR)
- Introduces student to role of collaborator in patient care by providing the critical thinking skills necessary to implement appropriate examination protocols and patient care essential for obtaining diagnostic images. Features cases that can be performed via Magnetic Resonance (MR) simulation or from actual MR examinations.Lecture 3 hours per week.
Prerequisite: ARRT or eligible.3 credits - RAD 249 - Comprehensive Foundations of Breast Imaging
- Provides the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered radiologic technologists with the educational foundation needed to complete the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and ARRT requirements of didactic education (clinical requirements not included) necessary to prepare for the ARRT certification exam in mammography.Lecture 3 hours per week.

- Designed to meet the initial MQSA/ARRT 25 supervised clinical mammography examinations mandated for students preparing to take the certification exam in mammography. The remaining mandatory exams are not included in this course and will be the responsibility of the student to obtain.Laboratory 2 hours per week.

- Presents a concentrated study and practical evaluation of radiographic quality and disease affects on radiographs. Focuses on technical factors, procedural factors, equipment malfunctions, and other difficulties associated with radiographs.3 credits
- RAD 270 - Digital Image Acquisition and Display
- Includes basic principles of digital radiography, image acquisition, image acquisition errors, software image processing, fundamental principles of exposures, image evaluation, quality assurance and maintenance issues, and digital display.(2 Cr.) Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
2 credits - RAD 280 - Terminal Competencies in Radiography
- Includes preparation and ensures that students possess competencies which relate to materials covered by the ARRT Content Specifications for national exam eligibility. Incorporates activities designed to verify that students have mastered skills in the critical content areas to include equipment operation and maintenance, image production and evaluation, radiographic procedures, radiation protection and patient care.Laboratory 3 hours per week.
