- Teaches oral communication and introduces cultural mores and customs to students with no prior instruction in the language. Part II of II.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - SPA 107 - Spanish Communication for the Hospitality Industry
- Introduces students to spoken and printed Spanish commonly used and/or experienced in the hospitality industry, including vocabulary, colloquialisms, and other concepts typical in the hospitality setting. - Develops understanding, speaking, reading, and writing skills through the Beginning level of Spanish. Covers the material in SPA 101 and 102 in an accelerated one-semester format. Strengthens, reviews and refines the concepts of SPA 101 and SPA 102 for students who have had previous Spanish language instruction or exposure but who are not ready for SPA 201 Intermediate Spanish. - Introduces basic conversation skills in Spanish to those working in the "Green" industry. Emphasizes the use of vocabulary and expressions needed for communication in horticulture, landscaping, nursery/greenhouse, and turf management. Addresses cultural aspects of working with Spanish speaking populations.Lecture 3 hours per week.

Prerequisite: Native or near-native fluency in listening and speaking and little or no formal education in Spanish, and permission and placement by instructor/counselor/ADC.3 credits - SPA 206 - Spanish for Heritage Speakers
